Born on October 4, 1989, American actress and model Dakota Johnson is best known for her performance in the ‘Fifty Shades’ trilogy written by author E.L James. Daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, Johnson made her movie debut in 1999 at the age of 10 years with the movie ‘Crazy in Alabama.’ She began modeling at the age of twelve. Johnson got a breakthrough in her career with the 2015 romantic-erotic movie ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ where she played the lead role of Anastasia Steele. Between 1999 and 2021, she has appeared in over 30 movies including the Oscar-nominated ‘The Social Network’ (2010), ‘21 Jump Street’ (2012), ‘The Five-Year Engagement' (2012), and ‘Black Mass’ amongst others. As of 2021, she has appeared in three television shows including ‘Saturday Night Live’ where she hosted the show. She received the People’s Choice Award for her work in the ‘Fifty Shades’ film trilogy. She is the granddaughter of actors Peter Griffith, and Tippi Hedren and niece of actor Tracy Griffith. Actor Jesse Johnson is her half-brother. In 2018, she, along with 300 women in Hollywood launched Time’s Up initiative to protect women from sexual harassment and discrimination.
